We already use WhatsApp and our till. What does Husano add?
Keep both. Tenants still message you on WhatsApp and pay your till or paybill as they do today. Husano adds a bill for every unit, a receipt for every payment and one record of balances and water readings you can check from anywhere.
Who is Husano for?
Husano is built for landlords and property managers of residential apartment buildings in Kenya. Staff can handle everyday property work, tenants can receive relevant updates, and landlords can see their buildings in a web dashboard.
Can tenants pay rent on WhatsApp?
Yes. From a bill reminder or the WhatsApp menu, a tenant chooses the charges to pay and confirms the amount. How they pay depends on whether your M-Pesa paybill is connected to Husano.
Do I need my M-Pesa paybill connected?
No. Until it is, Husano shows tenants your paybill or till details and they paste the M-Pesa confirmation message into WhatsApp. Your caretaker, or you from the landlord dashboard, checks it against your records and records it, then the tenant gets a receipt. Once your paybill is connected, tenants get an M-Pesa prompt on their phone instead, and the payment is matched and receipted automatically.
Are notifications required?
No. Staff and tenants can choose whether to receive notifications, including through WhatsApp where available, and can stop them at any time. Their account, role, tenancy and access to Husano are not affected.
What can I see in the landlord dashboard?
You can view your properties, occupied and vacant units, billed amounts, collections, outstanding balances, invoices and payment records. You can also see recorded and missing water readings for each property.
How does water billing work?
Caretakers record meter readings on WhatsApp. For metered units, water charges use the difference between meter readings and the configured rate. Water is billed one month in arrears: September’s consumption appears on October’s invoice. Missing readings are flagged for follow-up.
Can I manage more than one building?
Yes. The landlord overview brings your assigned buildings together, with occupancy and financial figures for each property. You can open a building to see its units and records.
How much does Husano cost?
Husano’s pricing will be monthly. Launch prices and package details are still being finalised and will be shared before you sign up.
